Curator Andrew Bolton is the heartbeat of the film, not Anna Wintour in case you're wondering -- his genuine passion for the subject matter and reverence for fashion is lovely and he manages to come across without an iota of pretense.
The film does a great job at revealing the push-pull between the Costume Institute and Met Asia collection curators as they navigate how to give the garments their due without diminishing the Chinese art work and artifacts in the galleries surrounding them. It's fascinating. And the slow-motion footage of Rihanna making her epic red carpet entrance in the golden Guo Pei gown on the night of the Gala is transporting -- seriously.
