In the 2 player mode you play in splitscreen mode, and all bubbles you shoot away will raise on the screen of the other player. It is really funny to see how the other player gets stuck in all those bubbles, while you can just sit back and watch how he or she dies. But stay alert! With 1 shot all that can change and are you the one in problems With great gameplay and the excellent 2 player mode, this game is just a true classic and everyone should have a go at it at least once.
Gameplay is lush, I can't praise this more. As you pop your bubbles they appear on your opponents screen, so the more you pop, the deeper in trouble he gets. You get to play as one of ten strange characters in this mode, including an animated totem pole, a baby dressed as a frog and other weird people, although the way that your choice of characters affects your game is the order in which your popped bubbles appear on your opponent's screen.
New to the two-player mode is the 'chain reaction' feature in which you can pop a chain of bubbles, and if it releases another bubble, this bubble will zoom back on screen, take out more bubbles of the same colour, and so on - it's hard to describe but you can manage to turn around a match by pulling off a particularly fancy chain reaction move.
The trouble is, so can your opponent, and it's all too easy to pull these off by accident, effectively trouncing your opponent without thinking about it.
The game is rather addictive, and is one of those titles you can just pick up, have a play with, put down, come back to later, and still find it enjoyable. Screenshots from MobyGames. It may also not be stretching the "vast capabilities" of the N64, but Bust-A-Move 2 is one of the best games available for the console at the moment, and is certainly the most addictive N64 game on the fig market so far! Don't be put off by its dodgy graphics.
One of the best puzzle games in the world, and certainly the finest so far on the N After a strong showing on the other console systems, it was only a matter of time before it was ported over to the Nintendo. There is plenty of fast and intense two-player action that will keep puzzle fans playing for hours.
If you are looking or something different than the other versions, you will be disappointed because this game is exactly like all of the others released. Initially, Bust-A-Move 2 sounds and looks like an average ho-hum game. Once you give it the 15 minutes, you will understand what makes this game so damn addicting. The only other game that can be remotely compared to Bust-A-Move is Tetris. Bust-A-Move has the same effect. Okay, so what is the object of the game? Simple; just match 3 bubbles of the same color and they pop.
Pop all of the bubbles on the screen before a bubble gets forced over the bottom line and you move on to the next level. This is a split-screen, do-or-die situation. Finally, you can play a timed game. This can be played by either one player or two players in a head to head battle. This is really the only difference between the N64 and PSX game. The N64 graphics are a bit sharper and more crisp. Once again, you are not buying this game for graphics, so it does not make the game any better or worse.
Even more important are those times when you reach a feeling of satisfaction from knowing you made it through 12 increasingly difficult levels. While burnout is easy with most puzzle games, Bust-A-Move 4 keeps the fun alive by allowing gamers to switch from one mode to another.

Sadly, it comes up short in the two-player mode, too. By racking up color matches, you rapidly fill up your opponent's bin and the game's over far too quickly to be exciting.
If you're really into puzzlers, you might want to give Bust-A-Move a rental test drive. Bust-A-Move is the bubble puzzle game where you are in control of the bubblereleasing apparatus that spits out different colored bubbles, which stick to the others that are already rooted in the game area.
